Yesterday, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Muggiano, we delivered the multi-role frigate Emilio Bianchi to the Italian Navy - the tenth and final unit of the FREMM Class in its Enhanced ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) configuration.

The ship, commissioned to OSN as Prime Contractor, Whole Warship, and Combat System Design Authority within the framework of the Italy-France program managed by OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation), integrates a complex system of cutting-edge technological equipment and represents the highest evolution of the FREMM platform. Measuring 144 meters in length, with a displacement of approximately 6,700 tons, a speed exceeding 27 knots, and a range of 6,000 nautical miles, Emilio Bianchi is designed to operate in complex scenarios, combining advanced anti-submarine capabilities, naval interdiction, and operational command.

Equipped with state-of-the-art systems provided by Fincantieri, Leonardo, MBDA, and Elettronica, the ship ensures high automation, cyber resilience, and environments optimized according to the latest standards, supporting operational efficiency and crew quality of life.

With the delivery of Emilio Bianchi, a crucial phase of the FREMM program for the Italian Navy is completed. This is a significant milestone for the program, which remains one of the most important European industrial cooperation initiatives in the field of naval defense.

We are proud to have played a key role in consolidating a strategic and excellent naval asset, aimed at meeting the future challenges of maritime security.
