The figure of Junior System Engineer Marine Automation supports the design, implementation and testing of on-board automation systems. He collaborates with the engineering team for the development of hardware and software solutions dedicated to the control and monitoring of naval installations (propulsion, auxiliary systems, safety). It participates in integration, testing and commissioning activities, contributing to the resolution of any technical problems.

Activities and Responsibilities

Managing project objectives:

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to pursue technical and operational objectives;
  • Adopt established methodologies and tools, ensuring the technical consistency of the solutions with respect to project specifications.

Verification and technical integration:

  • Participate in technical reviews for areas of your expertise;
  • Collaborate in the integration and testing of systems at suppliers and on board naval units;
  • Support the process of defining the physical and functional requirements of the system;
  • Monitor regulatory developments (IMO, SOLAS, IEC) and ensure systems compliance.

Documentation and support:

  • Drafting and managing technical documentation, including project specifications, integration plans, and testing documentation;
  • Provide technical support to project management for the evaluation of design variants and quality audits.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Naval Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or equivalent;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in similar positions;
  • Knowledge of Requirements Management tools (e.g. DOORS) and System Modelling (e.g. Rhapsody, CAMEO);
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of Artificial Intelligence;
  • Willingness to transfer and/or transfers within the national territory;
  • Basic knowledge of PLC, SCADA, embedded systems and industrial communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, NMEA) and related design standards (e.g. IEC);
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAE software and simulation environments (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink);
  • Knowledge of IoT technologies and cybersecurity applied to the maritime field is to be considered a preferred qualification;
  • Ability to analyze risks and design according to functional safety standards;
  • Good knowledge of English (level B2 or higher).
